The Swiss value honesty, hard work, and material possesions. They are very proud of their enviroment and have a long tradition of freedom. They value sobriety, thrift, tolerance, puncuality and a sense of responsibility. They are very proud of their nuetrality and promotion of worldwide peace.
Body Language- Poor posture is frowned upon. Do not stretch or slouch in public. Do not point your index finger to your head, it is an insult. Body language varies from region to region in switzerland.
The Swiss take punctuality for business and social meetings very seriously and expect you will do likewise. Generally, English is spoken in business with foreigners. It is not acceptable to call a Swiss businessperson at home unless there is an emergency.
It is illegal to flush your toilet after 10 p.m. If you forget your car-keys inside the car and you leave the car open, you will be punished. It is illeegal to ski down a mountain while reciting poetry. It is legal to go nude in public. It is an offense to wash your car on sunday and to hang your clothes to dry.
Be punctual. show great respect for elderly. dont litter ( you will be scolded). dont chew gum or clean your fingernails in public.
